The Reimagined Program encompasses the learning experiences for all students who join the Honors Program in Fall 2023 or later. For students who joined prior to Fall 2023, learn more about our Legacy Program.
First-Year Experience
During their first year in the Honors Program, students will be required to engage in three distinct learning experiences that will support them to grow in their role as impact agents in their communities, both within and outside of Northeastern University. Students who successfully complete these learning experiences will receive a digital credential, the Honors Impact badge, and access to a wide variety of Honors opportunities throughout the remainder of their time at Northeastern University.
Overview of First-Year Experience
To receive an Honors Impact badge and gain access to continued Honors opportunities, students must successfully complete the following learning experiences:
- Honors Discovery (HONR 1102)
- Honors LLC
- One Additional Learning Experience (see below for options)
- *Must be completed during a student’s first year in Honors
Additional Learning Experience Options
There are a variety of learning experiences that can be used as students’ Additional Learning Experience. Students will only need to complete one of the following options to satisfy the Honors Impact badge requirement. Please consult with your Honors advisor if you need support creating a plan.

Honors Program GPA Requirement
Members of the Honors Program are expected to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 during their undergraduate term. If a student’s grades drop beneath this threshold, they are placed on Honors Probation and will be at risk of being removed from the Honors Program. If you are experiencing academic issues or difficulties, we encourage you to contact your Academic and Honors Advisors for assistance.
Beyond the First Year
After successful completion of the Honors Impact requirements during their first year in the Honors Program, students have the opportunity to shape their own unique path within Honors by choosing among the many opportunities now available to them.
Honors Distinction
Honors Distinction represents the mastery of those competencies essential for navigating the global community in which we live: intercultural competency, cross-cultural communication, and global citizenship. Honors Distinction elevates students’ profile with future graduate schools and employers and demonstrates their readiness to impact our interconnected world.
Continued Engagement with Honors
After obtaining the Honors Impact Badge in their first year, students can choose to engage in a variety of upper-level opportunities through the John Martinson Honors Program:
