Martina Ferrari (COS ’25) is a fourth year Biology student who is the president of TriBeta, the Chi Delta Epsilon Chapter of the Biological Honor Society at Northeastern. Through planning a variety of panels, she has been able to support other students in making co-op and career decisions.
“As President of Northeastern’s TriBeta chapter, I’ve had the chance of organizing panels and inviting incredible speakers— from biotech professionals across Boston to prestigious research faculty from Harvard, MIT, and Northeastern itself. These talks have been so helpful, not just for our members but for me personally. After my first co-op, I found myself in the middle of a career crisis, questioning whether I was on the right path. Hearing from people who’ve taken non-traditional paths, faced their own challenges, and found ways forward has been so inspiring, not just for me but for other members who feel a bit lost about what comes next. What I value most about these events is how they help build connections—not just between members and speakers, but also among the members themselves. They might meet someone who could become a valuable connection in the future. We’re in Boston after all—the epicenter of education and research—so I highly believe in making the most of every opportunity. You never know when you might need a hand.
It’s been such a privilege to lead these panels, hear from outstanding faculty, and learn from wise people who’ve been in our shoes. It’s reminded me—and hopefully our members—that there’s no ‘right’ way to succeed. Everyone has their own unique path. My goal as president has always been to provide as many resources as possible for our members—whether that’s through these events, conversations, or simply being someone they can turn to for guidance. The rest of the amazing e-board and I have worked hard to shape TriBeta around what our members care about most, and I love seeing how everyone’s ideas help mold our chapter. I’m really looking forward to the spring semester, with so many valuable events already on schedule.”
